Which liner should I choose for a plastic cap?

Choose a heat induction seal (HIS) liner if you need a leak-proof, tamper-evident seal on HDPE bottles and own an induction sealer. Choose a 3-ply foam liner for general liquids and dry goods with no sealing equipment. Choose a pressure sensitive liner for a light tamper-evident seal on dry products, applied simply by tightening the cap.

Caps by Neck Finish

24-410 Natural spout (Yorker) cap with red sealer tip
28-400 White ribbed cap with HIS for HDPE
28-410 White ribbed cap with HIS for HDPE
38-400 White and black ribbed caps with HIS, 3-ply foam, F217 and pressure sensitive, or dual liners; black smooth cap with PS22 liner

38-400 Caps

The 38-400 finish is common on wide-mouth bottles, growlers and jars, so it has the largest choice of caps. The 38-400 white ribbed cap with HIS and its black HIS counterpart induction-seal HDPE containers. The white cap with dual liner combines a universal heat induction seal with a 3-ply foam backing, so the cap still reseals after the foil is peeled off. The F217 and pressure sensitive cap has a printed liner, and the black smooth cap with PS22 liner gives a glossy, retail-ready finish.

Ribbed or Smooth Sides

Ribbed caps are easier to grip and turn, especially with wet or gloved hands. Smooth-sided caps look cleaner on shelf and are easier to print or label. Matte tops hide fingerprints, while smooth tops give a glossier look.

Child Resistant and Dispensing Caps

The 20-400 child resistant caps suit supplements, pharmaceuticals and other products that must be kept from children. The 24-410 Yorker spout cap has a tapered tip with a small hole for controlled dispensing of glue, oil and other liquids, and the red tip reseals it.

Plastic Bottle Cap FAQs

What are plastic bottle caps made of?

Most caps in this category are made from polypropylene, a tough plastic with good chemical resistance. Check each product page for the material.

Will a 28-410 cap fit a 28-400 bottle?

No. Both are 28 mm, but the 410 thread is taller than the 400 thread, so the cap will not seat and seal correctly. Always match both numbers.

What does HIS for HDPE mean?

It is a heat induction seal liner designed to bond to HDPE plastic bottles. After capping, the bottle passes under an induction sealer that melts the seal onto the rim.

Can a cap reseal after the induction seal is removed?

Yes, the dual liner cap is built for that. Its 3-ply foam backing stays in the cap after the induction foil is peeled off, so it keeps sealing on later openings.
